Wet cleaning, the Glenforest way.

The forest in our name is a promise about what we put down the drain: nothing you would not pour on a garden.

Conventional dry cleaning bathes clothes in perchloroethylene, a solvent so harsh that regulators have spent decades phasing it out. It cleans, but it lingers in the fibres and in the water table under the city.

Wet cleaning does the same work with filtered water, biodegradable detergents and precise Miele machines, each cycle tuned to the garment on the ticket. It is gentler on wool, silk and skin, and honest to the nose. Your clothes come back soft and bright, and they smell of nothing at all.

We were the first shop in Toronto to commit to it fully. Sixty years in, we have never had a reason to look back.

Family run for over sixty years, on the same corner of Yonge and Lawrence.

The Zachos family has kept this shop long enough to press wedding suits for the sons of the men they first pressed them for. Becoming Toronto’s first wet cleaning specialist was never a marketing decision. It was simply better for the clothes, and for the street outside the door. Miele certification put a name to the way the work was already done.

“May your worst problem be a stain on your clothes.”

Straight from plants.

Detergents, wash sheets and spot treatments built on leaves, never solvents.

From the neighbourhood.

My husband’s shirts have gone here for fifteen years. They come back crisp, buttoned on the hanger, and nothing ever smells of chemicals.

Margaret, Lawrence Park

They rescued a silk blouse another cleaner told me to throw away. Careful, honest people who clearly love the work.

Priya, Bedford Park

The Tuesday valet is the easiest habit I own. Bag out in the morning, everything back pressed on my next route day.
