GLENFOREST. Book a Pickup

Toronto’s first wet cleaning specialist · Yonge & Lawrence

Sixty years of getting it spotless.

A fashion editor would call it atelier care. The Zachos family has simply called it the job: garments cleaned in pure water, never PERC, then pressed like they matter. Because they do.

No. 1 / The Services

What the house
does.

Six disciplines under one roof at 3309 Yonge. Every piece is inspected on the way in and pressed on the way out.

Wet Cleaning

The deepest clean in the gentlest medium: pure water, precise Miele machines, zero solvent.

Wash and Fold

Everyday laundry weighed in, washed, and folded square, back on your route day.

Executive Shirt Service

Collars, cuffs, and plackets pressed sharp, finished by hand where machines fall short.

Alterations and Repairs

Hems, seams, zippers, and quiet rescues, measured twice and sewn once.

Household and Linens

Duvets, drapery, and table linens returned fresh, pressed, and neatly bagged.

Wedding Gowns and Delicates

Careful hands for beadwork and silk. Gowns are cleaned, then boxed in acid-free tissue for storage.

Most dry cleaning is not dry. Ours is not dry cleaning at all.

Your closet,
on a route.

Two routes cross the neighbourhood every week, Tuesday and Friday. You never have to think about it, which is rather the point.

  1. Hang the bag

Your personalized Glenforest garment bag goes on the door before 9 a.m. on your route day.

  2. We do the rest

Collected, sorted, treated, cleaned, and pressed at the house on Yonge.

  3. Home, pressed

Everything comes back on your route day, finished and ready for the closet.

Routes run Tuesday and Friday. Not sure which is yours?

No. 2 / The Water Method

Why water
wins.

Most dry cleaning is not dry. It is a bath in petroleum-derived solvent, most often PERC, a chemical you can smell on the collar. Glenforest was the first house in Toronto to walk away from it. We clean in water, with biodegradable detergents and computer-controlled Miele machines, and the result is not a compromise: colours come back brighter, whites come back whiter, and nothing comes home smelling like a laboratory.

It is gentler on silk and wool, and easier on skin that reacts to solvent residue.

No PERC · No harsh chemicals · Ever

  1. Read the garment

Fibre, weave, dye, buttons, and the story of the stain. Nothing is cleaned before it is understood.

  2. Spot by hand

At the board with brush and bone, working stains out of the cloth instead of blasting them through it.

  3. Clean in water

Miele-certified machines, exact temperatures, biodegradable detergents. One hundred percent toxic-free, every load.

  4. Finish and press

Dried gently, blocked to shape, and pressed until it hangs the way its maker intended.

Margaret · Lawrence Park

Sixty years,
one family.

Glenforest has been in the Zachos family for more than sixty years, long enough to have pressed wedding gowns for the daughters of women who first brought in their own. From the same shop at Yonge and Lawrence, the house became Toronto’s first wet cleaning specialist and never looked back: Miele certified, one hundred percent toxic-free, and still small enough to know your name.
